Delhi Registers Whopping Rs. 54 Crore Liquor Sales On Diwali Eve

NEW DELHI: Delhi witnessed a staggering liquor sale of ₹53.89 crore on the eve of Diwali, contributing to a total revenue of ₹525.84 crore in the 17 days leading up to the festival, as per official data reported by PTI.
In the week preceding Diwali alone, sales surpassed one crore bottles, generating ₹234.15 crore for the government.
Notably, Delhi experienced a 42% growth compared to the previous year, with over three crore liquor bottles sold during the 17-day period before Diwali.
In neighboring Uttar Pradesh, liquor consumption reached ₹1,400 crore between November 1 and November 10, marking a 15% increase from the previous year, according to the state’s excise minister Nitin Agarwal.
