Delhi govt extends ‘old excise policy’ for 6 months. Check out five dry days
The Delhi government on Wednesday extended the old-excise policy for six months. Meanwhile, the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has also asked its concerned officials to prepare a new excise policy.
According to the old excise policy, there will be give dry days during these six months – Mahavir Jayanti, Good Friday, Buddha Purnima, Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha.
Notably, the government reverted its old excise policy in September last year after withdrawing the excise policy 2021-22.
The excise policy 2021-22 was withdrawn by the Delhi government after LG VK Saxena recommended a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in its implementation.
Ex-deputy chief minister and minister in charge of the Excise department Manish Sisodia was recently arrested by the ED in connection with an alleged liquor scam in Delhi.
At present, there are570 retail liquor stores and more than 950 hotels, restaurants and clubs that have the license to serve alcohol in the national capital.
