Deadlock over IPL mini-auction dates: Why BCCI denied franchises’ request to reschedule IPL mini-auction dates?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided not to make any changes to the IPL 2023 mini-auction dates, despite requests from the IPL franchises.
According to reports, several IPL franchises requested BCCI to adjust the dates and timings of the IPL mini-auction.
Christmas holiday?
Notably, December 23 has been set as the auction date, which is scheduled to take place in Kochi, but as the date is nearby Christmas and several executives associated with the IPL franchises were expecting a ‘holiday’, the request was made.
One of the primary reasons IPL franchises want the auction date to be rescheduled is that seven out of ten franchises have foreign head coaches, and franchises will require the wisdom of their head coaches during the IPL mini-auction.
Also, several franchises have a lot of foreign men in their coaching staff, like batting, bowling, and fielding. Their absence can come as a significant blow for the IPL franchises.

BCCI denied request
InsideSports’ reports has suggested that BCCI is likely to disagree with the request and will go as per the plan.
According to BCCI officials, auction planning and proper execution of the same required lot of logistical support and investment.
‘Making amendments to the itinerary will hamper all the BCCI’s preparation. Hence, BCCI is set to move ahead as per the plan,” BCCI official was quoted in the report.
