Day After Schools Re-Opened Across Manipur, Woman Shot Dead Outside School in Imphal

Day after schools were re-opened across Manipur, a woman was allegedly shot dead by unidentified criminals outside a school in Imphal West on Thursday.

As per reports, the incident took place outside Shishu Nishtha Niketan school. The incident has caused terror like atmosphere in the area.

A woman was tragically shot and killed this morning at around 8:40 AM near Shishu Nishtha Niketan school in Imphal West, Manipur.

The incident has come in the backdrop of ongoing clashes from last two months in the northeastern state between two community groups in the state.

In another incident of violence, the house of an Indian Reserve Battalion (RB) personnel was set ablaze by a mob in the Thoubal district after he foiled rioters’ attempt to loot firearms from the police armoury.

The violence broke out after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organise in the hill district on May 30 to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

More than 100 people have died and several hundred injured, besides thousands taking shelter in relief camps.
