Cyrus Mistry Accident: FIR against Dr. Anahita Pandole, but Who Is She?

The Maharashtra police on Saturday lodged an FIR against Dr Anahita Pandole, allegedly for causing death by negligence, in connection with the death of industrialist Cyrus Mistry, in Palghar district, in September. Palghar SP Balasaheb Patil told The Quotes that based on Dr Anahita’s husband, Darius Pandole, and a report concluded by Mercedes Benz after a thorough analysis of the car’s data chip, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, FIR has been lodged.

U/s 304 (Causing death by negligence), 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), and 327 (Voluntarily causing hurt to extort property or valuable security) of IPC have been mentioned in the FIR, informed Mr Patil.

The officer further confirmed that Mr Pandole, who was recently released from the hospital, narrated the whole incident stating that at the time of the accident, the Mercedes car was overspeeding. “The driver (Dr. Anahita) was not wearing her seat belt and she was also not driving on the right lane. The statements given by Mr. Pandole confirmed the violation of a couple of crucial IPC sections and Motor Vehicles Act, accordingly we have registered a case,” Palghar SP Balasaheb Patil told The Quotes.

But who is Dr Anahita Pandole?

According to the Jiyo Parsi website, Dr. Anahita Pandole is fame gynaecologist, with rich experience, including 25 years as a specialist, had started The Bombay Parsi Punchayet Fertility Project, in collaboration with the Bombay Parsi Punchayet, in January 2004 to address the prevailing issue of the population decline in the Parsi Community. The project provided fertility treatment to Parsi couples at subsidised rates and allowed them access to state-of-the-art medical facilities.

Dr Anahita D. Pandole is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with a special interest in Infertility Management, High-Risk Obstetrics and Endoscopy Surgery.

The Medical component of the Jiyo Parsi scheme evolved out of this initial fertility project with significant inputs and suggestions from Dr Pandole. She played a key role in the ideation and formulation of the implementation methodology. She continues to guide the Jiyo Parsi team on the medical aspects.

What had happened?

In September, Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir Pandola, Director at KPMG Global Strategy Group, were killed in a high-speed car accident on NH 48 in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The car, a Mercedes, reportedly went out of control, hit a road divider, and smashed into a wall on the Charoti bridge over the Surya river around 3.15 PM. The driver of the car, Dr. Anahita Pandole, and her husband, Darius Pandora, who was in the front passenger seat, suffered severe injuries in the crash but survived.
