CWC 2023: Sri Lanka Decimates Zimbabwe To Qualify For The World Cup 2023

Unbeaten Sir Lanka carried on their red-hot form in the ICC World Cup qualifiers to finally set up their chance at the 2023 World Cup – slated to begin from October 5 in India. Dasun Shanaka-led side decimated Zimbabwe in the Super Six clash on July 2, Sunday.

While batting first, Zimbabwe could only post 165/10 in 32.2 overs due to Sean Williams 56-run knock. For Sri Lanka, M Theekshana bagged four wickets in the 1st innings.

While chasing 165, Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka remained not-out and smashed brilliant hundred to guide his side home. Dimuth Karunaratne contributed with crucial 30 off 45 deliveries. Post-match Maheesh Theekshana was awarded Player of the Match for his brilliant spell.

With that win, Sri Lanka confirmed that berth for the World Cup 2023.
