CWC 2023: Haris Rauf Concedes Most Runs In Single World Cup Edition

KOLKATA: Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf is facing a challenging run in the ICC World Cup 2023, now surpassing 500 runs conceded in this edition.
In the recent match against England at Eden Gardens, Rauf broke the record for the most runs conceded in a single World Cup, surpassing Adil Rashid’s 2019 tally.
List of most runs conceded in a single edition of a World Cup:
- Haris Rauf – 533* (2023)
- Adil Rashid – 526 (2019)
The 30-year-old right-arm pacer, Pakistan’s fastest bowler in the squad, is the first Asian to concede 500 runs in a single edition of the ODI World Cup.
While Rauf secured the 6th position on the list of most wickets in this World Cup with 16 scalps from 9 ODIs, his economy rate of 6.71 and a strike rate of 33 have posed challenges.
Despite finishing his campaign on a positive note, taking 3 wickets for 64 runs against England, Pakistan’s overall bowling performance, featuring big names like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Rauf, and Hasan Ali, has been a significant factor in their downfall in this World Cup.
