CM Yogi Adityanath Hands Over 76 Flats Built For The Poor On Land Freed From Atiq Ahmad
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday, June 30 inaugurated housing units in Prayagraj -which were constructed on the land confiscated from gangster-turned politician Atiq Ahmed, who was killed in April this year.
As per reports, the allocation of these 76 flats, built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Lukergaj area, were allocated through a lottery system on June 9.
The beneficiaries of these flats were receiving a housing unit covering an area of 41 square meters for the affordable price of Rs. 3.5 lakh. The flats comprise two rooms, kitchens and toilet facilities worth Rs. 6 Lakh.
Lands confiscated by Atiq Ahmed:
As reported, the land on which housing units have been constructed was earlier confiscated by Atiq Ahmed, who faced charges related to the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, and later allegedly killed key eyewitness Umesh Pal, in February of the same year.
Build housing units on lands freed from mafia:
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this is the same state (Uttar Pradesh) where prior to 2017, mafia used to encroach upon the land of poor, businessman and government.
“Now housing units are being built on the land freed from the mafia. I tell all the officials today, to built such housing units in land freed from the mafia in their respective areas. This will boost the confidence of the people,” CM said.
