Can Contribute With The Bat: Shardul Thakur Eyes World Cup 2023 Spot

With Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are two prolific all-rounders almost secured a spot for the World Cup 2023, Shardul Thakur is another quality all-rounder, who is making a strong case for a spot in the marque event.

In three one-day international against West Indies, Shardul Thakur bagged eight wickets and led the pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Md. Siraj and Md. Shami.

While Hardik and Jadeja already provides a perfect batting and bowling option for the captain, Thakur is eying to offer useful batting and hitting depth lower down the order.

My role is important: Shardul Thakur

As an all-rounder who bats in the lower order, my role also becomes important. We’ve seen, in longer chases or if you want to post a big total, you will look to accelerate and lose one or two wickets here and there. If the No. 8 and No. 9 can contribute with someone who has batted deep, that role is really important,” Thakur said after India’s 200-run.

Looks towards team’s success: Sharuk Thakur

Whether it’s in batting, bolwing or fielding. I am not the kind of player who plays for his place in the team. If I play with that thought, I don’t think I’ll be able to play. Even if they (team management) don’t pick me for the World Cup, it will be their call, I can’t do much,” he added.
