Bringing Vehicles That Will Work Entirely On Ethanol: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari
Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari has confirmed the plans to introduce vehicles that will operate 100 percent on ethanol as fuel.
While addressing a gathering in Nagpur, Nitin Gadkari disclosed his interaction with the chairman of Mercedes Benz – who shared company’s future plan to invest in electric vehicles.
“We are brining new vehicles that will solely work on ethanol as fuel. Bajaj, TVS, and Hero scooters will run 100 percent on ethanol,” the minister said.
The minister also revealed plans to introduce the Toyota Camry in August, which will operate entirely on ethanol and produce 40 percent electricity.
The minister stated that in comparison to petrol price at Rs. 120/litre, the cost of ethanol at Rs. 60/liter would make the average price equivalent to Rs. 15/liter.
