Govt. orders Olympic Association to form ad-hoc committee, manage WFI till election amid wrestler’s protest

New Delhi: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Monday instructed the Indian Olympic Association to immediately form an ad-hoc committee to conduct elections of the executive committee of the Wrestling Federation of India.

A day after prolific wrestlers sat on dharna at Jantar Mantar seeking speedy action against WFI president Brij Bhushan Singh, Union government wrote a letter to Indian Olympic Association.

Government of India has ordered the elections of the executive committee, which is currently headed by Singh, should be conducted within 45 days of the formation of the ad-hoc panel.

The ad-hoc committee has also been asked to tasked to manage the day-to-day affairs of the WFI, till the polls conducted.
