Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023: Virat Kohli surpasses Sachin Tendulkar’s world record

Modern day batting great Virat Kohli etched yet another record to his name as he surpassed 25,000 run mark across all formats at international stage. The legendary batter achieved this feat in his 20-run knock in the 2nd Test against Australia at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Kohli also eclipsed Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record of smashing fastest batter to amass 25,000 international runs. Virat Kohli took just 549 innings to reach this historic feat while his idol Sachin attained the same feat in 577 innings, followed by Ricky Ponting (588) and Jacques Kallis (594).

India retains Border-Gavaskar Trophy:

Rohit Sharma-led Team India continued their dominance in the Test series as the host wrapped up second Test match on Day 3. It was once again all about the Indian off-spinners – R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja – who together bagged 16-wickest in the game.

While batting first Pat Cummins led Australia posted 263-runs as Usman Khawaja (81 off 125), Peter Handscomb (72 off 142) and Pat Cummins (33 off 59) batted brilliantly to post healthy total on board.

In response Team India managed to post 262 on board as Nathan Lyon bagged five-wickets in the game. With a lead of 1-run, Australia failed miserably in the second innings as the visitors bundled out at 113-runs. Team India took just 26.4 overs to chase down the total with six wickets in hand.

Ravindra Jadeja was adjudged Player of the Match award for his incredible spell in second Test match of the series. Notably, Jadeja was adjudged Player of the Match in the 1st Test match.
