BJP activates Vistaraks, seeks to regain lost LS constituencies

In a significant political development, Narendra Modi-starrer Bharatiya Janata Party has reportedly activated it’s network of ‘vistaraks’ – a full time functionaries who work as an extended arm of the party organization – in the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, which BJP lost in the 2019 general elections.
By activating its Vistaraks in the state, BJP aims to receive independent feedback on the ground-level political scenario before it gears up its poll preparedness for 2024 LS elections.

Nationally, BJP has identified 144 such Lok Sabha seats where it finished second. Of the 14 LS seats in Uttar Pradesh, 10 are with BSP, three with the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party and one with Congress.
According to a source close to recent development, Vistaraks are tasked to provide an additional push at booth level and bolster the party’s public outreach.
“This provides the much-needed feedback on the areas where the party believes it needs more focus,” the BJP leader was quoted in Times of India.
Earlier, BJP had deputed its senior leaders in the state for the 14 seats. UP BJP general secretary Amar Pal Maurya has been appointed as the state convener and tasked to coordinate with party leaders on the seats. Besides this, a host of central leaders have also been tasked for same.
