BCCI to not send Men’s and Women’s contingent in Asian Games 2023 due to prior commitments

India’s anticipation to bag best ever tally at the Asian Games in Hangzhou this year has dealt with a major blow as the Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided against sending its Men’s and Women’s contingent at marquee event.
BCCI has cited prior commitments as the reason for not entering the men’s and women’s team for the multi-sporting event.
“We have entries in all sports except one – cricket team is not going,” India’s chief de mission for the Asian Games, Bhupender Bajwa told The Indian Express.
As per Mr. Bajwa BCCI has informed him cricketers are pre-occupied.
“We sent 3-4 emails to them but hen we had to send entries to the organisers, they said they won’t do,” Indian Express report quoted Mr. Bajwa.
Meanwhile, a cricket board official has informed Indian Express that they received an email from the Indian Olympic Association just ‘one day before the deadline.’

“We had received the mail from IOA just one-day before the deadline. At the same time, BCCI already has finalised the FTP for women’s cricket. During the Asian Games, our team won’t be available as they will be playing in a tournament,” BCCI official said.
