BCCI Selector reveals reason for Sarfaraz Khan’s absence from Border Gavaskar Trophy

Despite being in a stellar form in the domestic circuit, Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan has been put only in the ‘scheme of things’ category. Selectors decision to not include Sarfaraz Khan for the first two Test matches against Australia didn’t go well with the Indian cricket fans as many raised questions on the integrity of the All-India Senior Selection Committee.
While we all keep wondering and speculating several reasons behind Sarfaraz’s exclusion from the squad, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selector has broken the silence on the matter.
In a conversation with Sportstar, National selector, Sridharan Sharath touched upon the topic of Sarfaraz’s absence stating that the Indian batter is in the radar of selector.
“Kohli is a match-winner. Cheteshwar Pujara brings stability to batting. Rohit Sharma is an excellent leader and fabulous with the bat. Shreyas has been consistent. Shubman and KL Rahul have the genuine ability,” Mr. Sharath said.
Citing ‘composition and balance’ in the squad, Mr. Sharath said that Sarfaraz is ‘certainly on radar.’ “In due course, he will get his due. While picking the tea, we have to consider things like composition and balance,” added Mr. Sharath.
Team India will host Australia for a four-match Test series, which will be India’s penultimate series in the World Test Championship cycle; Men in Blue is currently second in the standings and well-positioned for a spot in the championship game, where it will probably face Australia again in June.
