At This Crucial Juncture: Manipur CM N Biren Singh Shuts Down Resignation Speculations

Amid speculations of his resignation following series of clashes in the state, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday clarified that he will not be resigning.

At this crucial juncture, I wish to clarify that I will not be resigning from the post of the Chief Minister,” Singh tweeted.

As reported by Sangai Express, Singh received calls from New Delhi on Thursday, June 29, in which he was offered the option to put in his papers or the Centre would take over the administration.

Lot of drama unfolded in Imphal when Manipur CM was stopped by his supporters – mainly women – from going to Raj Bhavan to meet the governor.  Notably, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a crucial two-day visit to Manipur and met various stakeholders in the state.

He also visited relief camps and interacted with children and family members affected with month-long violence in the state.
