Hangzhou: Indian Women’s Cricket Team won Gold at the Asian Games 2023 after beating Sri Lanka by 19-runs on September 25, Monday at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field.

Notably, this is India’s second Gold on Day 2 of the quadrennial event. While defending 117, Indian bowlers produced a phenomenal performance by restricting Sri Lanka at 97/8 in 20 overs.

18-year-old Titas Sadhu clinched first breakthrough for Women in Blue as she dismissed Sri Lanka opener Anushka Sanjeewani (1 off 5) in the 3rd over. Sadhu hunted yet another top order batter Vishmi Gunaratne in the same over for a duck.

However, Hasini Perera (25) and Nilakshi de Silva (23) stitched crucial partnership in the middle but Rajeshwari Gayakwad broke the partnership by dismissing Perera in the 10th over.
