Hangzhou: The Indian Women Cricket Team qualified for the semi-final of the Asian Games 2023 after rain-washed out their opening game against Malaysia on Hangzhou on Thursday, September 21.
While Indian batters impressed everyone with their impressive knocks in the 1st innings and posted mammoth 174 runs, second innings saw heavy pouring due to which only two balls could have been bowled.
India had a blistering start to their 1st innings as opener Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma dealt in boundaries and propelled India’s score to 60 runs in the powerplay. But Mandhana lost the wicket in the 5.2 over.
As rain interrupted the play, match was reduced to 15-over game per side. However, Shafali Verma (67 off 39) and Jemimah Rodriques (47 off 29) continued the carnage and slammed 86-run partnership. Richa Ghosh too made a blistering cameo by adding 21 off 7 deliveries.
