Asia Cup: Top Three Set; Ishan Kishan Likely To Bat In Middle Order

Indian management is not willing to make any changes to their top three – Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli – in the game against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2, 2023 in Pallekele, Sri Lanka.
Men in Blue will kick start their Asia Cup campaign on Saturday. With 50-over World Cup is few weeks ahead, Team India is of the opinion to accommodate Ishan Kishan in the middle-order.
Although, KL Rahul was a preferred option at No. 5 but his unavailability for first two games is likely to pave way for Ishan Kishan.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has attained match-fitness at the right time and with head coach Rahul Dravid confirming his ‘fitness,’ the southpaw is likely to bat at No. 4.
Asia Cup: Here’s a possible top five of Team India against Pakistan on September 2.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as Opener
Virat Kohli at No. 3
Shreyas Iyer at No. 4
Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper batter) at No. 5
However, KL Rahul might join the group in Sri Lanka after first two games and in his presence, Team India will have to go through a tough thought of dropping Ishan Kishan from the squad.
