Asia Cup: Shubman Gill Needs To Work On His Intent, Feels Kaif

Former Indian cricketer Md. Kaif feels Shubman Gill lacked intent during group stage Asia Cup game in Pakistan on September 2 in Sri Lanka.
Notably, India vs Pakistan game saw the dominance of Pak bowlers in the first phase of 1st innings as Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf joined hands to reduce India 66-4 (14.1).
Shubman Gill contributed with 10-runs in 32 deliveries with the help of just one boundary. The new No. 3 ODI batter was criticised by many for his slow batting at a time when India was struggling to add runs against Pakistan’s quality bowling.
While speaking to Star Sports, Md. Kaif said;
“Gill showed no intent in that game against Pakistan. He had faced about 19-20 deliveries and the only boundary he got was down the leg side. So he definitely needs to work on his intent. When the ball swings at pace, you need to get into politics quickly, and that is something that Gill will need to do in indoor nets,” Kaif said.
Asia Cup: Gill redeemed himself against Nepal
Although, Gill failed with the bat against Pakistan, he redeemed himself in the second game of the continental tournament against Nepal. Gill stitched unbeaten match-winning partnership with Rohit Sharma to clinch 10-wicket victory in the game.
