After months of expressing dissent with the self-proposed hybrid model for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan Cricket Board has finally agreed for the format – where four games will be played in Pakistan and rest of the tournament will take place in Sri Lanka.
You must know about Asia Cup 2023:
As reported by Cricbuzz, PCB’s newly appointed chief Zaka Ashraf met Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary and President of the Asian Cricket Council, in the sidelines of the Chief Executive Committee meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC), held in Durban on Tuesday.
Despite first sharing his non-agreement with the hybrid model, Zaka Ashraf has now agreed to all the terms in hybrid model and the final schedule is now likely to be released on Friday.
Who proposed hybrid model?
After BCCI made it clear that Indian players will not travel Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, Ex-PCB Chief Najam Sethi came up with hybrid model and proposed to let four games take place in Pakistan (official host) and Sri Lanka convinced the stakeholders to let rest of the games take place in island nation.
With PCB finally giving his nod for the Asia Cup 2023, the official schedule for the continental tournament is likely to come out this Friday. The Asia Cup 2023, which is scheduled in ODI format, will start from August 31 and will conclude on September 17.
