Chrisann Periera, Framed In Drug Case, Returns Back India

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Chrisann Periera – allegedly framed in a drugs case in April and jailed in Sharjah, is finally back home in Mumbai.

Notably, Periera was acquitted by a court in June but returned home only in the wee hours of Thursday. Her brother Kevin Pereira posted a heartwarming video on social media showing emotional reunion.

How Chrisann Pereira survived in Jail

“Everyday I would just say ‘I have to survive today…..I would wake up with that intention. Once I spoke to my parents 17 days in, they gave me lot of home and updates every single day on my case. I had people in the jail I used to talk to, I would workout to keep my mental health okay in jail. I danced to no music at all, just to keep it going,” she told Hindustan Times.

How Chrisann Pereira was frame in drugs smuggling:

27-year-old Chrisann Pereira was arrested by the Sharjah police on April 1 after a Mumbai bakery owner, Anthony Paul allegedly framed her in a drug case.

Paul made his friend Rajesh Borate to pose as talented manager Ravi and approached the actor who had worked in films like Sadak 2 and Batla House.

Ravi allegedly asked Pereira to attend an audition in Sharjah for an international web series for which he booked flight and hotel tickets. But on April 1, when she was leaving for Sharjah, Ravi handed her a memento with hidden drugs in it.

The accused tipped off Sharjah police who arrested the actress. However, a probe by Mumbai police disclosed that Paul was upset as he had a fight with Pereira’s mother during Covid and conspired to take revenge.
