Aapko kuch nahi pata: An NGO volunteer schooled BJP MP Parvesh Verma for yelling at Delhi Jab Board officer ahead of Chhath Puja

Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh caused a massive stir on social media when his video lashing out at a Delhi Jal Board official in charge of spraying a ‘defoamer’ in the river Yamuna ahead of Chhath Puja surfaced on social media. In the video, which is going viral on social media, Parvesh Verma can be heard and seen pointing towards a set of barrels near the Yamuna River and blaming the officer for polluting the river.

BJP MP Parvesh Verma unnecessary slammed Delhi Jal Board official

“You guys are killing people. In eight years, you could not clean the river. Should we pour the chemical on your head? You will spray this chemical today; tomorrow, people will come here to dip into the river. Are you not ashamed of your deeds,” said Parvesh Verma. In response to the allegations, the Delhi Jal Board official hit back at the politician by asking him, “Why do you think people will die here? It is a chemical that the US FDA approves. The National Mission for Clean Ganga has also approved it,” he explained.

To the explanation of the DJB officer, Verma once again reiterated the same words as he said, “You are talking rubbish here. People will come to dip in the water tomorrow; you take a dip first. You didn’t think of this in eight years; now, when people come to mark chhath puja, you are working here, shameless person.”

The video caught the attention of the Delhi Jal Board chairman Saurabh Bharadwaj who shared the video and hit out at the Bhartiya Janta Party for politicising the matter and acting as a hurdle towards smooth preparations for the chhath puja. “The Delhi government is preparing for Chhath puja, and BJP politicians are stopping the work; they are misbehaving. The BJP wants our Purvanchali brothers to be troubled and the festival spoilt,” Bharadwaj wrote.

Public schooled BJP MP:

Meanwhile, Bharadwaj shared another video in which a volunteer from the Yuva Social Samithi foundation encounters BJP MP by schooling him about the activity.

“Do you even know what’s in the barrel? You know nothing but come here and put a roadblock on the work we have been doing for the last three days. You should not talk like that to a government official. When was the last you came to the bank to clean the bank of the river,” Durga Prasad Dubey, YSS volunteer, was seen telling the BJP MP?

Chatt Puja:

Chatt Puja has been a matter of great pride in the Indian subcontinent as natives of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and some parts of Madhya Pradesh express their gratitude towards North Indians as mostly natives of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh express their gratitude towards Surya Dev (Sun) and Chhathi (Shashti) Devi. However, with time it has become a soft topic for the politicians to warm their bread, especially in the national capital of the country, i.e., New Delhi.

As pollution of all forms looms over the national capital, Chatt Puja draws the attention of every politician in New Delhi towards the filthy Yamuna River, which engulfs toxic foam produced due to industrial waste. While the phenomena of filth covering the river is quite common for Delhites and all those who visit the Union Territory once or twice a year, it becomes a major topic of discussion in the newsrooms only during Chatt Puja.
