7,500 madrasas identified as unrecognised in Uttar Pradesh survey, Madrassa Education Board aims to enhance ‘better quality of education’

Lucknow: Despite widespread opposition from several stakeholders in the state, the administration has successfully identified 7,500 unrecognised madrassas in Uttar Pradesh through the state-wide survey. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Javed, Chairman of the UP-Madrassa Education Board, confirmed the numbers on Thursday. The chair of UP-Madrassa Education Board further informed that it is only by November 15 that the district magistrate will make a report of the survey available.

While speaking to The Quotes, Dr. Javed said that once the report is submitted to the administration, data will be used to provide better quality education to children studying in these madrassas, and steps will be taken to link them to the UP-Madrassa Board of Education.

“The highly-anticipated surveys have been completed. We are excited to get the data as the intention behind the survey is only the welfare of the community, especially the students pursuing education in these madrassas. The state government is committed to improving all students’ infrastructure and facilities. The state will also ensure quality education and faculty in these madrassas,” said Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Javed, Chairman of the UP-Madrassa Education Board.

Mr Ali also informed us that an incident involving a brutal assault on minor kids in Gosainganj and Bahraich in two separate Madrasas sparked the idea to conduct a state-wide survey of Madrasas.

“After the cases from Gosainganj and Bahraich came into the light, several layers of discussion with relevant stakeholders in the society and administration, including the Child Welfare Committee, were held.
