538 terrorists neutralized in J & K between 2014 to August 2022: RTI

In the last 18 years over 11,453 terrorist incidents have taken place in Jammu & Kashmir. This works out to be about 650 incidents per year. Post India’s resolute response in the guise of surgical strike and air strike, terrorist attacks have drastically come down.

In an RTI query filed by Pune-based civil rights activist Prafful Sarda, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), reveals some shocking numbers related to incidents of terrorist violence, terrorists killed and terrorists arrested since 2004 to August, 2022, in Jammu and Kashmir. While, 9,321 incidents of terror violence were reported in between 2004-13 , the reported numbers had significantly gone down to 2,132 incidents between 2014 up until August 2022. Looking at the report of terrorists being killed by our security forces in response, there is a similar reduction in numbers.

While a higher number – 4,005 terrorists – were killed between 2004-13, the numbers were brought down to 1,538 terrorists being neutralized by our security forces between the same second sample period of 2014 to August 2022. The reduction in engagement by terrorists reflects the blow inflicted on their morale by the scorching responses from our security forces.

Viewing the data on terrorists arrested – compared to 1,028 terrorist arrested between 2004 to 2013, we see an increase in the numbers of arrests leading to the apprehension of 1,432 terrorists between the period of 2014 up until August 2022.

While speaking exclusively to The Quotes, Mr. Prafful Sarda, civil right activist said shoot-to-kill agenda should be followed for these terrorists. “We must thank our security forces who are valiantly protecting our borders from these attacks”, he concluded.
