15 captains and 13 vice-captains: 2022, a year of different leaders for Team India

Outgoing Chetan Sharma-led Senior Selection Committee named Hardik Pandya as the captain of the T20I series against Sri Lanka, vice-captain of the white-ball format – replacing Rishabh Pant (T20Is) and KL Rahul (ODIs) – while Rohit Sharma will continue to lead in 50-over format. Team India will host Sri Lanka for a white-ball series, commencing from January 3, 2022.

The above-mentioned changes are easy to remember for a cricket-freak but not for an easy-going person. The year 2022 was a year of opportunities as almost every Indian cricketer got a chance to lead the side, at least once. While seniors were constantly taking rests from international assignments, Indian selectors gave turn to couple of players to enjoy the captaincy.

With regular changes and everyday transition Indian cricket fans literally had tough time to keep up with who is becoming captain or his deputy. As 2023 is just few hours away, and outgoing selection panel has continued their trend by going with split captaincy for Sri Lanka series, we have listed out the players who got an opportunity to lead the Indian team in 2022. Check the list.
